Located near the Equator, Malaysia’s climate is classed as equatorial, being hot and humid throughout the year. The humidity in Malaysia is very high. The mean monthly relative humidity ranges from 70% to 90%. The average temperature is 27 degrees Celsius with an average daily range of 20 degrees Celsius at night to 32 degrees Celsius during the day.
Annual rainfall exceeds 2000mm a year. There are regular heavy tropical rainstorms lasting minutes to several hours, especially during the monsoon seasons. During the monsoon season heavy rain can fall virtually unabated. On the West coast of Peninsular Malaysia the rainy season is from around September to December. On the East coast it is from October to February, whilst in Sabah and Sarawak it is from around November to February.
